James Pyott founded Pyott in 1991. His earliest commissions were the first five Conran Restaurants brands for Terence Conran, and brochures for The Conran Shop in London and Paris. James and Terence went on to collaborate on a range of non-Conran projects including The Metropolitan Hotel in London’s Park Lane and Das Triest in Vienna.

Over the 1990s, Pyott established a portfolio of significant work in the retail sector for Debenhams, Bhs, Heal’s, Habitat, WHSmith, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer and Selfridges. In 1997 we were commissioned by British Airways to revolutionise inflight retailing. The award-winning Shopping the World went on to deliver £50 million in annual revenue for the next five years.

Post-2000, Pyott’s work for retailers broadened across all the retail channels of store, ecommerce and mail order. In 2000, Pyott redesigned KLM uk’s website, achieving a 400% online sales increase in just one business quarter. Between 2000 and 2003, Pyott took online lingerie brand Figleaves from a turnover of £700K to £7 million. In addition, the luxury market became an area of special expertise for Pyott with clients including Charles Worthington, Rodial, Molton Brown, Ormonde Jayne, Bill Amberg and The PM Club.

James works with Pyott’s clients as a creative partner, building personal relationships with them and evolving responses to their design needs over time. The company does not have a long client list, preferring instead to offer a very high-quality, personal service to just a few key clients. Pyott remains under the sole ownership and management of James Pyott.
